FAQ - WHAT TO EXPECT ...

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a powerful therapeutic approach that facilitates positive change by accessing the subconscious mind through a relaxed, focused state. It supports healing, insight, and transformation by aligning your conscious intentions with your inner beliefs and patterns.

Will I be in control during hypnosis?

Yes. Contrary to common myths, hypnosis is not mind control. You remain fully aware, in control, and capable of speaking or ending the session at any time. Hypnosis simply allows your mind to become more open and receptive to beneficial suggestions.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Most clients describe hypnosis as a deeply calming and restorative experience. You may feel physically relaxed, mentally focused, or pleasantly detached from distractions—similar to a daydream or the moments just before sleep.

Can anyone be hypnotized?

Most people can experience hypnosis, especially when they are open to the process and working with a trained professional. Hypnosis is a collaborative experience—it does not require a special skill, only a willingness to engage.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies based on your individual goals and needs. While some clients experience rapid change within one to three sessions, others benefit from a more extended, supportive process. Your journey will be personalized and purposeful.

Is online hypnotherapy effective?

Absolutely. I have been facilitating hypnotherapy sessions since 2023 and became certified in January 2025. Sessions are conducted by video, offering the same depth and effectiveness as in-person work—with the added comfort and convenience of being in your own space.

Does hypnotherapy replace counselling or medical treatment?

No. Hypnotherapy is not a replacement for counselling, psychotherapy, or medical treatment. It is a complementary approach that can work effectively alongside other forms of therapy or care. Many clients find that hypnotherapy enhances and supports the progress they are making with their healthcare providers or mental health professionals. It is important to discuss your current care plan with Melanie if you currently have one, or have in the past.

Before Your Session:

    •    For online sessions, ensure a quiet, private space with a stable internet connection. Headphones are recommended for optimal audio clarity.

    •    There is no need to “try” to be hypnotized—simply arrive open and ready to relax.

During Your Session:

    •    Each session begins with a brief check-in to refine your focus for that day.

    •    You’ll then be guided into a calm, focused state using therapeutic language and evidence-based techniques.

    •    While in hypnosis, we’ll work with your subconscious mind to release limiting beliefs, strengthen inner resources, and align you with your desired outcomes.

    •    You remain fully aware, engaged, and in control throughout the process.

After Your Session:

    •    Many clients report feeling calm, clear, and empowered. Others experience gentle emotional release or deep relaxation.
